Cataloguing software can organize your entire photo collection, but how does it work and what do you look for?
Keywords
Keywords (or 'tags') have become a standard way of attaching information to images in a freeform kind of way. Keywords can include locations, people's names, photography genres, favorite techniques or anything else you want to record. Keywords may be embedded directly in images, stored alongside in 'sidecar' files or kept in image catalogs.
Image metadata explained
Metadata is image information stored alongside or within a photo. You don’t see it in the image, but it can be read by different software applications to help filter, sort, search or identify images.
