09 The new key image
Again, Aperture copies the whole image stack into the new album, but this time it’s the last image in the stack that has the ‘tick’ icon.
10 The closed stack
So this time, when the stack is closed, it’s this picture that’s displayed.
11 What this means
Basically, then, you can set a different image as the ‘key’ photo in different albums. I can try out lots of different treatments on images within a project, and create albums within it to showcase the specific effects. Each album has different images as the key photos within the stack. I can have one album for black and white shots, another for tilt-shift effects and so on – and all without having to ‘unstack’ and separate images.
