Create new effects with Perfect Effects blending modes

05 Add a new effect

So to do this I click the ‘Add’ button in the Effect Stack panel. I know which effect I need to add – it’s the Tone Enhancer.

06 Tone Enhancer adjustments

The Tone Enhancer combines brightness and contrast sliders with curves adjustments. I won’t bother with any curves adjustments – I’ll just push the Shadows slider up to maximum to bring up the darkest parts of the picture, and increase the Brightness value too.

07 The finished picture

I quite like this effect. It has a vintage ‘travel’ feel and I’ve got the satisfaction of working it out for myself rather than simply picking it from a list of presets!
